Almost all of the firm's deal flow came from intermediaries, as broker emails in Outlook, each in its own format.
First-pass screening was outsourced: results came back once a week in a spreadsheet, priced per company, and someone on the deal team still went through it line by line to agree or disagree with each call. Any deal worth tracking was then typed into DealCloud by hand. For the partners, that meant: - Deals could be lost. A teaser could sit for days before anyone looked at it, or never get a real look at all. In a banker-run process, that delay could cost the firm the deal. - No single view of the top of the funnel. Deals were spread across an inbox, a weekly spreadsheet and DealCloud, and only what someone typed in made it to the CRM. Nobody could say with confidence how many deals the firm had seen, what it passed on, or why. - Deal team hours going to admin. Time went into moving information between the inbox, the spreadsheet and the CRM instead of evaluating companies and talking to management teams. - A cost that grew with deal flow. The more intermediary coverage the firm built, the bigger the vendor bill and the manual load.
Loop3 built a deal-screening workflow inside the firm's own platform: Claude reads each broker email and attachment, extracts revenue, EBITDA, margin, industry and geography, recommends Pursue or Pass against the firm's written criteria, and syncs the deal team's decision and reason to DealCloud.
